Confidentiality

Confidentiality is an essential part of counselling and psychotherapy. All information you share in sessions is kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with any third party except in exceptional circumstances. The legal exceptions to confidentiality include: if I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person; if I am legally compelled to disclose information; if there are concerns regarding the safeguarding of children or vulnerable adults; or of you disclose involvement in certain serious criminal activity. I would endeavour to discuss any breach of confidentiality with you whenever possible, unless doing so would increase the risk.

Data Protection

As a registered member with the ICO, I handle all personal data securely in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), I collect and store only the information necessary for the provision of therapy. Your data is held securely, and you have the right to access the information I hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate data, and withdraw consent for data storage. Your data will never be shared with third parties without your explicit consent, unless required by law as noted above. Brief notes may be taken during and after each session for professional and supervision purposes. These are anonymised and securely stored.

Supervision

As a qualified therapist I am required to attend regular clinical supervision in order to ensure you receive the best care. Any information shared in supervision is anonymised, and supervision is itself confidential between myself and supervisor.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy

If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, please at least 24 hours notice wherever possible. This helps me offer the space to someone else who may be waiting, and avoids the session fee being charged. Payment is due 24 hours before each session to secure the room and confirm the appointment.

Online Work

Sessions will take place over zoom or google meet which are both secure video calling providers. I will always conduct our sessions in a secure, confidential space at home. I ask that you find a safe, private space in which to take our calls.
